Falling is easy. Every time something new is attempted we risk getting hurt. Employment, relationships, a move to a new city…doesn’t matter. Any choice sets us up to trip, tumble and fall.
The easiest thing to do is curl up and hide. Make no decisions. No choices. That’s the promise of an insurance policy — to hedge your chances against disasters, and termites.
If we stay sheltered from the inevitable storms there’s never a need to pick up, dust off and carry on. Staying hunkered in the basement will keep us unscuffed and safe for sure. It also filters out light and fresh air and guarantees a healthy build up of mold.
Every successful person I’ve ever met has a resume of things they’ve tried and spectacular ways they’ve failed. In fact it’s the failures they stress — the ones they’re the most proud to share. The biggest lessons were learned by falling. Each one a step to the next decision or leap or next failure. These folks knew the way to get ahead wasn’t measured by all the things that went horribly wrong. Rather, it was the act of getting up AFTER each fall.
By the way, there’s no shame in failing.
Not if you’ve learned from it and moved on. And “successful” is whatever it looks like to you. Gather the pieces, glue them together and go forward. Build on the failures. Again and again.
It’s hard you guys, to keep going. When each new day feels like shoveling against the tide. In the end the reward is whenever you decide it’s enough.
Let’s be very clear about something. Don’t equate your being with stuff and circumstances. You’re neither. You are blessed and loved by the Universe. Above all, you are enough whether you “succeed” or not.
Situations are static. People are static. You can’t control or manipulate either. You roll with those things. Welcome to life.
But your choices, going ahead another day to take on a new challenge or sticking with what’s in your heart, should come with a warning: Watch out for falling shit.
Know that you have whatever you need to find your way around the debris and get back up.
BE F*CKING AWESOME TODAY!
